A Tale of Community and Corruption.
2140 CE
For a Century the world has been ignorant of the life that dwells beyond Stone Hill Garrison.
A community has thrived in the intervening years since The Great Pathogen, ever conscious they may one day be found by the slowly deteriorating old-world.
Unknown to them, the Ministry of Defence suspects that not only is there life beyond the border, but a community able to manipulate and disperse the virus that wiped out a quarter of the world’s population a century before.
The villagers carry out their lives while a countdown hangs over them, swiftly ticking to conclude in a violent and harrowing confrontation on the shores of Mortehoe

Yes, I was annoyed the story ended. It's like a dreaded cliffhanger two part episode of your favorite tv show.It is hard to tell if some of the good guys are bad, there are some definite bad guys and there are about five or six different story lines running at the same time, all of them related yet different. That alone will keep a reader interested.
A distopian (sp?) view of the future that feels like it could have happened yesterday instead of 150 or so years from now, it is a compelling story of how fragile human society is and how man, with now moral social structures left in place, can quickly revert to violence, rule by the strong and totalitarianism, albeit of a wide variety of strong-armed social structures.
The stories neatly contrast life in a small village with the gritty violence and despair of futuristic urban life. The stories also hint of secrets yet to be revealed and perhaps that is what keeps the reader turning the pages, or in this case, pressing the Kindle button to read further.
This book, and the first volume of the trilogy, are entertaining yarns. The characters become more familiar as their stories unfold.
Like a good storyteller should, the author, Kelvin James Roper has drawn me into his story and the imaginary world he has created. I will just have to patiently wait until the third an final part of the story is revealed in published form.

Elysium Part Two edition by Kelvin James Roper Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I read both episodes (books) of this story and am waiting for the end ... the story is basically good but the ending that "was not" is just a shocker.
Overall quite disappointing ....
Deception is the opposite of truth. When something diverts your attention to one particular area sometimes it is wise to look in the exact opposite direction for the threat that is coming your way. Can't wait for the next book.
This book was quite good, and a fast read because you didn't want to put it down. My only problem with it was the ending which came out of no where and u definitely are looking and looking forward for more!
Not a great story, only good. It's written OK and told OK, but only. That may be because I missed the part one bits. I read all the time and found it somewhat lacking. Very few typos which did not detract. All said and done, only OK.
I loved both books in this series and cannot wait until the final chapter is released! The characters are genuinely interesting, the plot moves quickly, and the ideas presented are absolutely intriguing. I don't understand the reviewer that was turned off by the "big" language, perhaps he is more thrown because the author is British. I read quite a lot of dystopian literature, and found this to be a wonderful addition! Though another reviewer felt the backstory being added in the second book a downfall, I really liked how the entire story unfolded. How simple it is to just hand someone a plate, how much more interesting to serve them a piece at a time. Though, in honestly, I love Hugh Howey, and he does much the same, if he provides backstory at all! All in all, awesome read, I would absolutely recommend Elysium, and I hope Kelvin continues to write.
I found Part Two to be an engaging story, that unfortunately tends to get confusing because of the Authors writing style. He uses Archaic words that become blatantly cumbersome and slow the story down considerably. While the Author may have thought it neat to use the old words, I found that a dictionary was necessary to clarify the meanings and even that didn't help at times. It simply made reading the story tedious and laborious. The ending is another area where the Author just decided the story was done. The story is worth reading even with the faults. Make up your own mind.
I really enjoyed this short book, the second of two. This is a direct follow-on to the firrst book that introduces a few more characters and widens the world out.
As with the first book, the character development is excellent and over the course of the two books the author slowly draws these people out and expands them for us. Their unique situation in the devastated world makes for some interesting storylines and as the two books continue, you start to see there is much more going on here than first believed.
The best thing of all is the writing! This is a superb author who can really write! Loved it. I've read a lot of these self-published books and am usually left taking my lumps because of the unpolished writing and poor editing but that is not an issue with these two books! Great writer and excellent editing. Only problem I saw was the paragraphs somethimes weren't separated correctly leading to a tiny bit of confusion. No biggiie.
Bottom-line, if you like this genre then these are a must read. Hopefully the author continues the series as I think there is much to explore here.
